BBC2’s Irish-Australian acquisition nudged ahead of rival dramas The Couple Next Door, Insomnia and Midsomer Murders.

Mix Tape opened slightly ahead of fellow Aussie import Scrublands: Silver, which drew 505,000 (4.7%) in the same slot on a Monday earlier this month. However, it was adrift of another import High Country, which gripped 1.9m (17.9%) in a similar slot on a Saturday in July 2024.

Mix Tape, which is available as a boxset on iPlayer, was shy of the 671,000 (5.8%) slot average.

BBC2’s offering pulled ahead of the second episode of C4’s The Couple Next Door, which intrigued 550,000 (4.8%), a drop on the 680,000 (6.1%) who watched the series opener the previous night. All episodes of the Eagle Eye drama are available on C4’s streaming platform.

Insomnia on 5 was just behind C4 with 510,000 (4.4%) tuning into the Left Bank Pictures Paramount+ thriller.

ITV1’s repeat of Midsomer Murders entertained 1.3m (12.2%) across its two hours from 8pm, according to Barb data supplied by overnights.tv.

BBC1 won 9pm with the return of The Great British Sewing Bee stitching together 2.9m (25.2%). The eleventh series of the Love Productions format was behind the 3.1m (26.4%) who tuned into the launch of the preceding series in May 2024, though it was significantly ahead of the 1.7m (14.7%) slot average.

On multichannel, Love Island held steady with 1.1m (10.1%) on ITV1.
