WEDNESDAY: U&Alibi original drama draws 270,000 and smashes slot averages

Eagle Eye Dram’s six-part cosy crime drama aired as a double bill, with both episodes smashing their slot averages.
The first episode was miles ahead of the 43,000 (0.3%) benchmark and the 9.10pm second episode retained the majority of the audience with 202,000 (2%), way ahead of the 45,000 (0.3%) slot average.
Despite this, Bookish couldn’t quite match the opening of Annika, which pulled in 410,000 (2.5%) at 9pm on a Tuesday in August 2022.
Elsewhere on multichannel, Love Island continued on ITV2 with 1.1m (10.6%).
BBC1’s Match of the Day Live coverage of the UEFA Women’s Euro match between Norway and Italy drew 1.5m (14%) across the two-and-a-half hours from 7.30pm, peaking with 2m (19.5%) at 9.45pm.
Opposite, Long Lost Family drew 1.5m (14.1%) at 9pm on ITV1, according to Barb data provided by overnights.tv.
Insomnia concluded its run on 5 with 592,000 (5.7%), averaging 630,000 (5.6%) across its six parts. It was on par with Channel 4’s stripped drama offering The Couple Next Door, the third episode of which drew 570,000 (5.4%), shy of the 680,000 (6.1%) it opened with on Monday. The Couple Next Door is available as a box-set on C4’s streaming service.
The second episode of BBC2’s drama import Mix Tape entertained 400,000 (3.8%), a drop on the 620,000 (5.4%) it opened with the previous night. All episodes of the romantic drama are available on iPlayer.
